Last year marked the fifth anniversary of the passwords “123456” and “password” being in the top 2 spots of most used/worst passwords, according to SplashData. Of this list, it is estimated that 1 in 10 people use these top 25 passwords. That’s… not good. Each year, SplashData pores over millions of passwords that belong to people who were breached.

Here are some safe password practices:

  • Use uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and characters
  • The longer the password, the better
  • Use two-factor authentication when possible
  • Do not reuse your passwords over multiple sites and applications
  • Do not trust your browser to store your password
